I went to Madi Gras in Ohakune a few weeks ago. It was the first time I had been to such an event and had a wicked time. I didn’t dress up tho, as I didn’t quite realise this was a requirement, which in NZ it isn’t really. But if I head down that way again for the event next year, I might try to make the effort, bearing in mind that it is 0 degrees or so.
The best part about this trip was that I got to go to the snow at Mt Ruapehu. I hadn’t been to the snow since I was 8 or 9 years old, so this was very exciting for me. Unfortunatly Rob and I didn’t have gloves, or boots, or any real snow gear. We just rocked up in our jeans and jackets. Guarenteed my jacket was an actual jacket and Robs was but a mere hoodie. It was super exciting tho, I made a snowball and got to throw it at him, and got to step deep into the soft snow. Could have easily lost one of my sneakers, but luckily I didn’t.
